Our model — steps
01

Qualify

We start by understanding your household and checking every benefit you may be eligible for.

02

Guide

A real person helps you gather what's needed, complete the paperwork, and get everything submitted correctly.

03

Advocate

We track your case and text you when there's an update. If the state gets it wrong, we help you appeal.

04

Keep your benefits

Applying is the start. We help you stay ahead of renewals, too. Once you're part of Fabric, you're in the Fam.

Start today.

Find out what you are eligible for.

The most common reason families miss out? They think they won't qualify.

“I have a job, so I probably don't qualify.”

Eligibility is based on income and household size, not employment. Plenty of working families qualify.

“I heard it’s a nightmare to apply”

We handled the paperwork and walk yo through every step.

“I tried before and got denied”

Most denials come from a paperwork mix-up, and that's something we can fix.

“I'm on Medicare, so I'm already covered.”

Many people on Medicare also qualify for Medicaid, which covers costs Medicare doesn't.

Your questions, answered.

SNAP (also known as EBT, food stamps, and many other names, depending on your state) is the largest food assistance program in the United States. It is funded by the federal government and managed by each state. As of 2026, it supports over 41 million people nationwide. Every state has their own application process, so it’s important to check your eligibility whenever a life circumstance changes (new child, new roommate, new job, loss of a job, and others)

SNAP funds are loaded monthly onto an EBT card and most people use it like a debit card at the grocery store. Once your monthly funds run out, you have to wait until the next month to get food support.

What is SNAP?

What it covers?

Groceries

  • Fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, bread, and more, at basically any grocery store or supermarket.

  • If you’re buying groceries online like Doordash, UberEats or Instacart, you can find a “SNAP-EBT eligible” tag on eligible items

Snacks and drinks

Chips, crackers, candy, soda, and non-alcoholic beverages (although varies by state!)

Farmers markets

Many farmers markets accept EBT

What's NOT covered

Alcohol, tobacco, hot prepared food, pet food, and non-food items like household supplies.

How SNAP works

Eligibility is based on household size, income, expenses like rent, utilities, and child care expenses, and, depending on the state, assets like bank accounts and investment properties. Each state sets its own rules within federal guidelines, which is why a family in Pennsylvania and a family in Illinois might see different eligibility and also different SNAP dollar amounts.

You can apply directly through your state's benefit site, or Fabric can walk you through it. Once you apply and submit documents, the state reviews your case and lets you know if you're approved, usually within 30 days, but sometimes much faster. If approved, your benefits load onto an EBT card you can use right away.

A few changes have happened in 2025-2026.

  • People who receive food stamps renew their food stamps two times a year. “Renewing” proving they still meet income requirements and their life situation hasn’t otherwise changed and made them ineligible for the benefit.

  • Work requirements are also now part of the eligibility for SNAP. People have to either be working or volunteering 80 hours a month, or meet an exception like being a caregiver (including parents), pregnant, and others to qualify for SNAP.
